Your Vision is a Masterpiece
There’s an old lady in the sunshine on her front porch, smiling, and relaxing in her rocking chair. She is filled with wisdom and is often sought after for advice.
A woman is visiting with her, and asks the old lady how to have a better life, a life that is more enjoyable.
The old lady tells her to be an artist. The younger woman thinks this is nuts because she is not creative and definitely is not an artist. She gets ready to leave, thinking the old lady’s words are worthless.
The old lady tells the woman that all people are artists but most don’t realize it. She explains that we are always creating our life with our decisions and the meaning that we give our experiences. In order for life to be more enjoyable then, you must claim that you are the artist and that your life is your masterpiece.
Before the younger woman leaves with her newly gained wisdom, the old lady asks her to ponder the question “Now that you know that you are the artist, what will you create?”
This is a question that you can ask yourself often. It will help you to create a vision for your life moving forward. When you have a vision that lights you up it gives you clarity of mind and a sense of purpose. Lack of vision is what makes you feel stuck and stagnant because it causes you to live from the limits of your past experiences.
“I created a vision of David in my mind and simply carved away everything that was not David.” - Michelangelo
Michelangelo began with a vision, and so must you. Your vision will allow you to know what your masterpiece looks and feels like, it will give you direction, and move you into action.
You are an artist and your canvas is your life. You have the opportunity to create many masterpieces within your lifetime, if you so choose.
“Someday things are gonna be different, when I paint my masterpiece.” - Bob Dylan
What would you like to be different in your life? What if you decide to create a vision that makes you feel amazing, that pushes you to become a little bit more of you?
Reply to this and let us know what your vision is and what it will feel like to go for it!
In happiness,
